Huff n Puff

On Friday, Sunnyhills had annual Huff 'n puffathon in the field.

Many of Room 21 kids ran more than 10 laps!

Didn't know there were lots of amazing runners in Room 21!

Howick historical village trip

Did you know that back in old days, people washed their clothes only once a month?

This is one of the many things I learned at the Howick historical village on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, Year 2 have gone to the trip to the Howick Historical Village to learn about our topic "Old and new technology".

At the village, we had four different activities- Washing, Butter making, Unpacking the trunk, and Old school. 

We learned so many what people used to do back in old days. 

We were also glad that we are living with electricity and all the modern technology which make our life so much easier and faster!

Creative writing

This week Room 21 tried something new for our writing.

First, we buddied up with someone and got a dice. We threw a dice three times to get a character, setting, and a problem for our story.

Then, we got a big paper to brainstorm ideas and ways to solve the problem for our character together.

It was challenging but we all tried hard and had fun.

This was our first time writing a creative story.

Well done Room 21! You rock!

Diwali

Last week was Diwali. Diwali is a Festival of lights and it is celebrated every year in India.

We read a book about Diwali and learned lots of festive activities that people do in India.

To celebrate Diwali, Room 21 decorated rangoli patterns. 

 They look very beautiful on our classroom window.

What a busy term it was!

Folk dance

Today Year twos performed folk dance called Windows dance at the Junior Assembly.
We have been learning different cultural folk dances in PE this term.
We danced with frolic and rollick.
I thought you all did tremendously!

Literacy week- Author in residence "Stu Duval"

This week was Literacy week at Sunnyhills School.
For Author in residence, we had Stu Duval at Sunnyhills teaching us how to draw cartoon pictures with numbers and letters.

Stu also told us some fun stories about pirates, puddings, beautiful lady with long black hair, Huia bay, and Kauri tree.

We also followed Stu's instruction on how to draw cartoon pictures. Everyone did amazing cartoon pictures!

We are going to try them in the classroom again by watching videos on Stu Duval's website

What a fun week it was! I wish every week was Literacy week!
